F1 Racing's Monaco Grand Prix on May 28

The streets of Monte Carlo, home of the Monaco Grand Pix, NEVER liked Michael Schumacher.

And Michael Schumacher is getting frustrated every year Monte Carlo denies him a podium spot. Yet, Schumi is STILL trying to court Monaco for a variety of reasons.

ONE, he would like to finally get a win after five failed attempts the past five years.

TWO, a sixth loss will bring him down to the mediocrity that plagued the late Ayrton Senna.

And finally, Schumi, whether he admits it or not, is on his last years in F1 racing and with a Spaniard looking to establish himself as the new king of F1, Schumacher would be more than happy to become F1 champion for perhaps the very last time.

‘’We have made a lot of improvement in the car in recent races,'’ Michael Schumacher said.

He adds, ‘’I am confident that we will be very strong this weekend. The car is good, and so are the tires. We will be competitive.'’

Or so he thinks.

Fernando Alonso is the Spaniard I was talking about earlier, looking to establish himself as the new king of Formula One. He is already the defending F1 champion and being able to defend that title this season will surely establish his mark as one of F1’s best.

Already with a decent lead in the championship race this season, a win would give Fernando Alonso some breathing room from a determined red scarlet Ferrari, piloted by a Michael Schumacher, trying to inch closer and closer to the race lead.

It will surely be one heck of a race to witness. North America is feasting their eyes on these very intriguing 2006 NBA Playoffs, probably the best playoff competition the NBA has ever seen in recent years. The rest of the world is preparing for the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

However, deep in the heart of Monte Carlo, automotive warfare is being waged. Michael Schumacher and Fernando Alonso hungers for glory. The time for the 2006 Monaco Grand Prix is now.

Desea España viva! Alonso wins in Spain!

Fernando Alonso sent a capacity crowd of 131,000 adoring fans into a frenzy.

Renault's ace driver did that by becoming the first Spaniard ever to win his home grand prix at Barcelona on Sunday.

The 24-year-old simply annihilated the opposition, including arch-rival Michael Schumacher who had begun to chip away at his world championship lead with wins at Imola and the Nurburgring.

After taking pole with an exquisite qualifying lap on Saturday, Alonso controlled the race from start to finish by the simple expedient of lapping 0.5s per lap faster than anybody else for most of the afternoon.

That superior pace put paid to Ferrari's hopes that its decision to opt for a heavier fuel load than Renault would pave the way for Schumacher to demote Alonso through the pit stop exchanges a la Nurburgring.

Schumacher did indeed pit six laps later than Alonso, putting his third-place qualifying effort, just 0.3s adrift of Alonso, into perspective. But by then he was too far behind to offer any meaningful challenge; Alonso had the race sewn up.

Alonso set a relentless pace throughout the race's middle stint and had 11.2s in hand when he pitted for the second time on lap 40. That was more than enough to negate the advantage of Schumacher's extra low-fuel laps, and when Alonso then virtually matched the Ferrari's pace with his fuel-heavy R26, it was all over bar the shouting.

Fernando Alonso's third win of the season strengthens his grip on the world championship standings, giving him a 15-point margin over Schumacher.

After a performance like this, who would bet against him consolidating his advantage in the gamblers' paradise of Monte Carlo? The Monaco Grand Prix is considered as the gold of F1 racing. What better to bet on it than with Monaco Gold Casino? Visit and bet on the royal side of Casino gambling, now!
